Love Letter to Myself was my first portal painting and was based on a workshop about Opening to the Heart. This was a layered painting process with each layer representing different parts of the journey.
The under layer contains intentions for myself, and at the time of creation, I had no idea how deep this painting would go into my inner self. The background was created while releasing the traumas and hurts that have kept me from loving myself and feeling my inner worthiness.
The symbol in the background represents connection and love from Spirit, guiding me, loving me, and expressing itself through me. It goes through and within me in order for me to feel it, understand it, know it and then express it to others. The rainbow symbolizes love from those in my life: past, present and future. All have and will come into my heart showing me different aspects of experience, teaching me in some way so that I may grow and understand love.
When I started adding the inner layers of the heart, I began receiving messages from the painting, telling me what needed to be expressed and seen. Symbols came through that represent each person that has been a part of my journey. All begin at the center of my being; my source energy - my heart and yoni. Both breathe and contract through trauma and love. Water drops express the tears that I have shed.
The outer shell of the heart protects my inner self. There are scars, but my heart is strong, and each is show the beauty and resilience of my Spirit. My heart is held by Mother Earth. I am held in her branches of love and connection. I am grounded and supported in her wisdom and strength.
The roses are my feminine power unfurling and expressing itself in power and beauty. They are love blooming and opening to life. I am blossoming into a space of loving awareness and compassion for myself and others.
And finally, the symbols around the painting represent my guides, guardians, and messages from the Divine. I am loved. I am worthy. I am powerful.
